A new year and the new decade are just around the corner. With a new year comes new jewelry trends, hot off the 2020 runways. We’ve rounded up the biggest jewelry and accessory trends from fashion month.

Juxtaposed Gemstones

Jewel shades and intriguing juxtapositions of gemstones were a key trend on the 2020 runways in New York, London, Paris & Milan. Brandon Maxwell’s show was a perfect example of the trend. Choose pieces with multiple colors or stones like this Amethyst Enamel Ring. Or you can also try stacking multiple rings with different colored gems.

Oversized Chains

Chains next year are going to be big in every sense. Oversized chains have been growing as a trend for the past few seasons. As we ring in the New Year this trend is set to explode to even bigger proportions. XL chains were seen everywhere as necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings.

Vintage Style Jewelry

Vintage jewelry will get a bohemian twist next year as designers take inspiration from the Victorian era. Coming back into fashion are cameos, intaglios, signet rings, shields and broaches. Cameos adored the necks of models at Anna Sui. Artist Julie Wolfe contributed to the trend with a mix of cameos and intaglios.

Hoops, Hoops, Hoops

Hoops will be one of the biggest earring trends for the coming year. The trend ranges from dainty delicate hoops all the way up to almost ridiculously oversized hoops. Statement bar hoops like this gold and diamond pave pair from Phoenix Roze are the perfect way to work the trend in real life.

Sea & Sand Inspired Jewels

Found objects were a common theme across jewelry types. Some of the more common objects mixed together were inspired by the sea and sand. Coral shapes, pearls and seashells were used by many designers. You can recreate the look at home by layering up your sea inspired jewelry, like this gold shell necklace.

Single Statement Earrings

You don’t always need a pair of earrings to make a big statement. Single, and proud, earrings were a common feature of next season’s collections. Single earrings need to be big and bold enough to look deliberate, so choose dangley, oversized styles. Buy the pair, wear one now, then wear them both in a year or so when the solo trend inevitably passes.
